I personally don't find the lack of editable columns a big problem. I
don't mind what little extra mouse movement it takes to go to the
properties pane. I do however see the efficiency value of edit-in-
place.

My concern would be, where do we click to *select* a task when all the
areas of a task's line are editable ? Sometimes I'm frustrated when
a single click in the title puts me in edit mode.

I would implement edit-in-place as follows: 1st click anywhere on a
different line selects the task, 2nd-click on selected line enters
edit-in-place mode. In other words, single-click edits only if line
already selected, else it just selects the line.

You could get real fancy (and help Stephen J update all his min
durations faster) by having single-click edit in a new line, if and
only if we were in edit mode on same column previously. IOW, to
select a task, click anywhere on it, except in same column where
currently in edit-mode. Clicking another tasks in same column as
currently editing, puts you directly in edit mode for that other
task.

BTW, to update multiple tasks as once (with the same value, of course)
multi-select the tasks and make the value change: it will apply it to
all. Awesome!
