How about grouping by week (for other than the current week) and then
sub grouping by day name. This would differentiate between Monday last
week/this week/next week, maintain a useful weekly grouping, and still
allow an easy (name based) focus on any particular day.
For example: -
+DUE DATE LAST WEEK (Jun 15 - Jun 21)
+MONDAY
+TUESDAY
+WEDNESDAY
+YESTERDAY
+TODAY
+TOMORROW
+SATURDAY
+SUNDAY
+DUE DATE: NEXT WEEK (Jun 29 - Jul 05)
+MONDAY
+TUESDAY
+WEDNESDAY
