-1 Privacy is a topic to be solved for *all* your sensitive files, not just the ones created by MLO. It just doesn't makes sense to reinvent the wheel with every application that one might use for sensitive data. My personal choice is to use TrueCrypt containers [1] to keep private informations on harddisks and USB sticks, and AxCrypt for the transfer of single files, e.g. per E-Mail. To have additional encryption solutions built-in in Word, Excel, Notepad, MLO, etc. is completely needless.
To Ubi: If privacy is a real concern, you should abstain from FTP. FTP transfers unsecured, and is easily intercepted. Consider using a TrueCrypt container e.g. on a Dropbox [2] or a similar service. Data transfer is (mostly) over SSL, so even without TrueCrypt it's more secure than an FTP server. To Greg: In case of a computer crash *every* open file might get corrupted, independent from AxCrypt or MLO internal encryption - so your *real* concern should be to lose all data, not only the changes since the last open... If your computer crashes often, consider a TrueCrypt container instead of AxCrypt, or reopen your MLO file often.
