I've been using PhatWare's CalliGrapher 8.7 with MLO about a month now on my HP PPC. I really like it. If you use the "Write Pad" option of CalliGrapher, the software gets better and better at recognizing your handwriting and guessing what word you really want. Yes, you are right: It does take up the bottom 3rd of the screen, but it doesn't bother me.
I hold my PPC horizontally so there is more room to write.
