Interesting. For comparison, on My Ipaq 211 I get the following behavior with MLO 3.01. I have not tried the new release yet.
Singe or double tap highlights an item. Single tap on already highlighted item text edits the item text. Double tap on already highlighted item text does nothing. 3 quick taps on an item which is not highlighted, will highlight it and edit the item text.
