Hi, Gull-- There's not a single elegant solution at this point. I'm new to the MLO Cloud, but familiar enough to tell you that (as it sounds like you are).
Something that's missing from MLO is a "Not" filter for Contexts, or the solution I would propose in the mean-time is that you and your wife use the same data file and you each add a context to the tasks that are exclusively yours so you could hide your wife's tasks. I already use multiple files in a few different ways and I have also done branch syncs trying to get to something close to what you're looking for-- it can be done on desktop with network sync, but not the cloud. There are good arguments for both using one large file and for multiple files. In my case, I use multiple files when the collection of contexts would become too unwieldy for the two areas to work together. I lean very, very heavily on contexts and if I were to combine the different areas of all of my files, I would have 60 or more contexts, and I would have to extend their already-long naming convention to account for where the namespaces collide. I also have to share data with co-workers and roommates and some of that data I would just rather not share with everyone. Otherwise, I would put everything in one file-- I'm only one person, it's all one life. I'd rather have everything in one place.
