Have you got the options at the bottom of the RTE dialog expanded? That has a parse checkbox to enable/disable parsing. I rarely have a problem with parsing - just need to remember to use quotes when using restricted words/numbers. If that's difficult for you I would suggest using a default of parsing off and enable as required.
