Well, I'm thinking that in many successful product lines, leveraging
off core technology to suit specific user bases is a successful
strategy. As long as the products are complimentary. The mobile and
desktop MLO products have been designed for different user groups.
Initially, everyone was expecting the mobile MLO to be an extension of
desktop, but it's not. It is a new product which simply uses a similar
underlying philosophy to desktop MLO which has the ability to sync
with the desktop MLO. It makes very good business sense to do this of
course as it attracts a new user base and income stream but I'm
guessing that there are many MLO power users who just want a mobile
slave for MLO rather than a fully fledged task manager (although
judging by the lack of response here, I do admittedly wonder a bit
about this now - but certainly that's my position). So this idea is
simply to appeal to those primarily desktop MLO users. Would also be a
good way for Andrey to understand the demands of auto sync on the
cloud. My guess is that this would be profitable for him as the
technology ios already there - just needs rejigging - and it could
increase cloud subcriptions and possibly pave the way for auto sync
added to the stand-alone mobile MLO app.
