Thank you Lisa. This led me to the solution I was looking for. I have several dozen tasks captioned using the last names of clients. While I primarily want to sort by due dates, I occasionally want to sort alphabetically by last name when reviewing the client list with my assistants. I didn't realize the subject or name field was called the "caption." All client tasks are labeled with the context "client tasks" to keep their tasks separate from office management, marketing, and other tasks.
For others looking to sort this way, I found this helpful: >From the To Do view, hit the Group By button and group by context. Then hit the Sort By button and select Caption. This makes a nice sorted group to review.
