Changing the order in the outline is easy: menu-->move, then drag tasks
around. You can work out of the Outline if you wish to see all the tasks,
and not just the active ones (you can hide completed in the menus). But
having a view that is filtered and sorted differently from the Outline is
one of the most powerful features of MLO. There is currently no way to
change the views on Android.
Have you tried the Projects view? I believe it might show inactive tasks.
Have you looked at the sort options in the menu for your Active by Context
view? You might be able to be creative with these. For example, I sometimes
put prefixes in my titles ("Caption") and use that as a sort criteria.
I believe you are using start dates differently than MLO expects. You can
use them that way, but not everything will be as intuitive because the
concept of "Active" is partially dependent on start date. The start date
ideally should be used to indicate that the task cannot start before that
date/time. You shouldn't have to update it--if it is important and doable
now, it shouldn't have a start date in the future. Is there a reason you
need to use a start date? If you are trying to specify priority with it,
you might consider using other fields (Goals, Starred, Importance, Urgency,
etc).
I hope that helps! You can see my use model at
