I'm just getting to know MLO and would like to have the option to have the parent task show up in the context filter view. Here's why:
I use the parent task to help me remember the context of the sub-task. If my parent task is 'Call Bob' (not clear on its own), and my sub-tasks include 'change max upload file size from 2MB' and 'Need access to back end to upload mp3 files' (also not very clear on their own), it's easier for me to remember what my sub-tasks mean when I see them in context with 'Call Bob'. By themselves, if I haven't viewed the task for a few days, especially when I have many other tasks, the sub-tasks may lose their meaning without the context of the parent task. Also On my blackberry, checking something as a 'project' does not provide the name of the parent task at the beginning of the sub-task, so on my blackberry I would have no context at all for what the sub-task is without going back to my list and finding the parent task to get that context. In short: I don't always clearly identify what the sub-tasks mean. I expect to sometimes lean on the parent task for the context to help me remember what the sub-task is. For me, it doesn't confuse anything to include the parent task in the Active Tasks context list, it clarifies it - as long as the parent and sub-tasks are grouped together and there is a way to know which sub-task belongs with which. Thanks to the creators of this MLO. I'm just getting to know it and to figure out how to use it effectively, but so far I've found it very helpful.
