Hi, Thomas. Before I spend any significant time on this I want to make sure
that I clearly understand the assignment.

If you pick a view that you like, and that you would like to print and give
to a colleague, then select “Print” from the file menu, you get a print
setup popup, right? Under print templates, mine offers Memo style and
Outline style, does yours offer the same? If you select “outline style” and
“all tasks in view” and “Expanded only” , then hit “Advanced” and pick the
fields you want to show, and select to print task notes and table header,
then “okay” and “preview” do you get a listing that’s kind of close to what
you wanted? I know the colors are not what you want, what other aspects are
wrong- please be as specific as possible.

Hi Dwight,

In MLO4 , we now have the possibility to filter the outline with the use of
contexts. That's great.

For example, I have a context for each collegue I'm working with. That helps
a lot to deleguate, and to check if the work is done

So, I filter my outline in order to dress a lis for someone. The "show in
hierachy" option helps a lot to keed a good overview of the responsabilities
/ Projects.

Then, I would like to print this list in order to tell someone what I want
him to do, and for which project(s) (And I give him the color paper list).

But I didn't find a "proper" way to print a pretty list that look like the
outline (same hierachy, same design, same colors, ...).

Furthermore, the copy/paste into Word option, doesn't work for me :

* All tasks are duplicated (I hadn't this issue in MLO3).

* A kind of "word plain list" is not really good to communicate.

If I give this kind of list to deleguate, I'm sure that the work will NOT be
done. Just because it requires an additionnal mental step, to sort what is
really "to do" from the notes, which task belong to which project etc.

The MLO print option isn't much better than a word copy paste. It's not
really pretty nor well-arranged.

The only way I found, is to make a screenshot of my MLO tree, and then paste
it into paint :-), and then print it.

For the commucation, It works great ! I even receive my lists back, where my
coworkers check all the task they have done !

But the making of the list with the screenshot and paint, is not really a
solution, and it is too slow !

I hope you understand me. Sorry if my english isn't so good as it should be.

And I still want to mention that I love MLO !

Hi, Thomas. Reading through this thread I find that several people told
superboyac that printing is not terribly difficult and offered to help him
if he would provide a mockup of what he wanted to print. So far as I know he
never responded.

How about you, what kind of print are you looking to produce? Could you take
a word processor and create a sample of what the report would look like?

I also have big issues to print my tasks lists.

I find MLO4 perfect, it's work very good and meets all my requirements,
excepted for the print option ...

I think that this is a basic functionnnality that every one need !

I apologize for the tone of this message, but I have been asking for
support on this issue for years now. I cannot really change the way
my MLO reports print out. Everyone says "Just modify the css" but I
have never seen someone successfully modify it. I have tried and
tried and tried, and nothing works. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. But
nobody has any step by step instructions or answers. I haven't even
SEEN a modified report by anyone. People just say it can be done.
I have emailed directly to MLO, no answer. I have posted here about
it many times, no real good answers, but some sympathy. Another
problem with this forum is I don't see a way to reply to any of the
threads. Maybe it's just me, but there's no reply option for me.
There's a "reply to author" but that just sends an email privately to
the post author. So what is going on?

My problem is this: I need to print my task list and show it to
professionals on a daily basis. I can't show them the default report
because it looks really really bad, and it would only embarrass me.
I've waited for years, and the printing in this program is just as
terrible as it was several years ago. This is a basic function.
People need to print the reports nicely and easily. I spend so much
time making my task list look nice on the screen, I should at least be
able to duplicate that somehow.

I need printing help. I need examples, don't just tell me it can be
done. I have YET to see anybody actually show me a decent looking
printed report from this program. If you have one, please give me all
the setup files so I can copy it. But I've asked for that once
before, and nobody had anything.
