1) I agree that the task movement buttons aren't very useful, hidden away under "More". I never use them, though - I find myself using drag and drop most of the time and hotkeys the rest of the time.
2) Project status bar has definitely got mixed reviews. You can switch them off, but that probably doesn't suit you. Another work around might be to set up custom icons for, say, 10, 25, 50 and 75% complete (and it gets crossed out at 100% complete).
