I'm scouring the market for this functionality. It is surreal that ListPro is the only product that has it. IliumSoft makes a good product but they virtually never upgrade, took years to get an iOS app out and still doesn't have a cloud sync function. Honestly, I think it is a part time hobby of someone's. Anyway, as far as I can tell, there is not a single product anywhere aside from ListPro that has both hierarchical tasks and subtasks and also allows for custom fields. Short of using a relational database, I can't find anything.
You had asked for examples of custom fields. When I create a task, I like to identify the person or role that I'm delegating to (if I am), the technology or file location (if applicable), conditions on if that task should be done, whether it is something that can be outsourced, etc. This is just an example. But in general, this is all the functionality that you would need for your app to be able to handle any kind of list. Movie or Book Catalogue lists would have columns for author, publisher, etc. Recipes would have ingredients, measurements, etc. Shopping lists would have store, quantity, etc. While some of these are just lists, many are task lists. Shopping lists are essentially task lists, recipes as well. For me, I have tasks or processes for many things including preparing for a trip, doing finances each month, etc. Without custom columns, I can't chose what attributes are relevant or important to me. Please implement this and I'll become your happiest customer.
