Hello Robert, I'm using the iPhone version 2 on my iPad (although I actually use it more on my iPhone) in preference to iPad v1, although I understand Nick's point about iPhone apps looking bloated and not making much of the screen space on an iPad..
Stop Press: Andrey has just started talking about potential features for the iPad, over on the beta testers' forum, so the wait for iPad v2 may not be soooo long.
