Maybe it will do - I'll need to think about that.

While I do so, what I will say is that as a general comment this is all 
quite fiddly to set up!

I *think* I would prefer to have Area of Focus as its own field with a big 
button near the top somewhere allowing me to hit it and thereafter 
EVERYTHING that I see is filtered to just that Area of Focus. Certainly 
this would be much more intuitive and easy to learn!  What I can't tell you 
yet is which is better/more convenient for the Expert user.
