Thanks for the clarification, Simon.  I've just submitted this as a bug 
report, on the Jira issue-tracking site for the beta testers. I've asked 
that the iPad (and iPhone) version be made to act in the same way as the 
desktop version.
 
For ref: The issue reference is MLOBETA-191.
