Hi, Ian. Thanks for this stimulating question. I wasn’t even aware that Every
Weekday was an available recurrence option, but I looked and there it is.

I have no suggestions for how you can create a report that includes tasks with
daily or weekday recurrence while excluding weekly recurrence, but I can
explain what’s happening. I did some testing and it turns out that MLO treats
Weekday recurrence as a type of weekly recurrence. This makes sense in a way –
weekday recurrence is actually identical to weekly occurrence which happens
every Mo, Tu, We, Th, Fr. If you imagine the weekday occurrence, which is
currently listed under daily, being moved so that it’s listed under weekly, all
of the filters would make sense.

- A task with weekday recurrence passes a filter for Recurrence =
Weekly and fails a filter for recurrence = daily

- A task with recurrence every 7 days passes a filter for daily and
fails a filter for weekly

- A filter for recurrence < weekly will pass tasks with hourly and
daily recurrence and fail tasks with weekly and monthly recurrence, noting that
weekday recurrence is considered weekly and therefore fails

I cannot see any way to make a filter that would pass daily and weekday tasks
and fail weekly tasks. If you don’t care about weekly tasks you could easily
make a filter that passes daily or weekly and it would probably provide what
you need. But if it’s important to exclude weekly tasks then I don’t know how
to do it.

Subject: [MLO] (minor) issue filtering daily recurring tasks

I have a view that has a filter with a rule Recurrence=Daily. If a task is set
to recur daily and has the "Every Weekday" radio button selected, the filter
incorrectly excludes that task.

There are several workarounds such as using contexts or flags, of course, but
I'd rather not have to do an additional step of setting another task field when
the existing data should be enough. It's fine for a few tasks, but it would get
increasingly annoying.

There's no option that would allow me to specify (Recurrence=Daily OR
Recurrence=EveryWeekday). Additionally, many of the operators available for
filter rules don't make sense (I tried Recurrence<Weekly but it didn't work),
however, I guess it would be a big job to customise the operators for all
fields and all their possible values.

I would call this an omission resulting in unexpected behaviour rather than a
bug, however, it would be nice for these kinds of low priority things to be
addressed eventually.

If it's ok, I'll continue to post bugs / issues here as I find them. I've
posted several feature requests at the UserVoice site too and hopefully the
activity there will pick up eventually (nothing in the last few months).

I really appreciate all the work done so far.
