Hi Jennifer, No it's not normal, I've used MLO on a wide range of machines and operating systems and it's always been very fast. In fact in comparison to other applications it's typically faster and very light, even with many tasks.
I don't think it's a typically issue either as I've not seen many complaints about this kind of thing. I'm guessing other applications run fine? Also how many tasks have you got? I'm running at about 2500 and I don't notice any slow down.
