Mark, You might get better followup if you separated your issues, one issue per thread. Right now, I can comment only on your third issue.
There are two different add-to-inbox buttons. I think that you are using the one at the bottom of the view menu. This one does have the problem you mentioned. The other button stands by itself as the "shortcut" or can be found embedded in the 2x2 widget, both available on the widgets section of the app drawer.
