hi. there are a few ways to do this. cut&paste (asyou described) is one, but if you select "cut" instead of "copy" you will not have to go back,and delete it afterwards.
the second way eould be drag&drop- click the four-headed arrow at the top right, grab the task and drag it to the project. There's a bug right now, if it stalls while you are dragging, forget this option and try it again in a few weeks. Third option: select the task. Swipe right-to-left to raise the task preview.
