Thanks Pottster, I'll add that tweak to my list of things to do on a new install (OS and MLO). That gives me a good way to modify the default behaviour of the link but, as you say, doesn't explain why the absolute path is being modified the way it is.
I will check my laptop and see if it happens on there as well. If it doesn't then I suppose I should reinstall MLO on the desktop.
