Hi, Keith, you present an easy issue and a hard one. The easy issue: to search on MLO/Android, hit the hamburger (menu) icon in the upper left corner to bring up the list of views. Drag the view menu down and the search box will appear at the top. Hard to find, hard to remember, but easy to use once you remember it.
Hard issue: why are you having a hard time sticking with MLO? My guess is that the help you are getting from MLO is less than the work you are putting into it. One possibility is that you are putting too much work into it. It's easy to try to get a perfect setup, spending countless hours tweaking to get it perfect. If that's the issue, you could try giving up on perfection and just going for "good enough".
