Hello Lisa, Looks like you're using the date colours from the theme which I uploaded into the "icons and themes" thread that the top of this forum. Ah well, one person's nice, clear, flat colour scheme is another person's obnoxious colours, I guess.
To change the date colours, go via the menu into Tools - Options, then select "Themes and Formatting". Edit the theme and on the "Dates color" tab you get colour options for future dates, near due dates and overdue dates. You can assign a more subtle, pastel colour in that window, if you like. You can even go back to a gradient fill, like in Andrey's default theme. Have fun selecting just the right colour theme for your own taste. If you come up with a set of colours and fonts which looks particularly good, why not save the theme file and post it into the thread at the top of this forum.
