One approach you can use now is to include a string (I use ##) in your frequent destinations. Typing ## in the filter field when choosing destination brings up only the filtered ones. Alternatively you can click on View which appears when you click on the Parent button. If you assign your frequent destinations to a context, and build a view to display them, you can make RTE use that view by default.
