I just did a trial. In the column of the main area of screen the icons are 
being displayed at 16x16 pixels and an icon size of 48x48 came out badly, 
but 16x16 and 32x32 pixels are indistinguishable.  It's easy to get 
confused though because as you may know a single .ICO file can contain more 
than one size of icon.
