I don't think you are missing anything. This is another reason I think that Markdown used for this purpose is a particularly bad idea. Need to be able to format items in the note window like you would in MS Word or as you do in this Google Groups page I am using right *now*. The app should be designed to make it easy to use and transfer info in and out and see the same formatting follow into and from other Windows apps
