Because of this thread I just did a search and got google Play working on my son's Fire HD 8. I have not tried MLO, and probably won't, but in case it matters to anyone, the instructions to get the Play Store working were much clearer than I remembered when I attempted and failed a few years ago. Here's the page I used: https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/get-google-play-on-fire-tablet. Took about 30-45 minutes, but I was doing other things during reboots and downloads. YMMV.
