John, Assign items with hard deadlines a specific context. I do that and use "GCal" as the context and set the sync to only sync tasks with the Gcal context. Works like a champ. I color code them on my phone (Android) to easily see them on my MLO task lists to separate them from the "do anytime" tasks.
