I think the following might be worthwhile info for future reference or even the MLO documentation, simply because this specific info is part of documentation for Google products on iOS, meaning enough people have this issue with iOS apps which access local network. Specifically:
iOS settings | MyLifeOrg [3] | Local Network = ON This allows app to access other devices on local network. The tricky part is that this setting only needs to be on when pairing the app, after which point it seem like this setting can be turned off and the Wi-Fi sync will continue to work fine. So when one upgrades the device, maybe a year or two later, the iOS upgrade process, which has been made completely automatic, will copy the settings. But because the app itself needs to be installed manually, it has to be re-paired and re-synced, hence the issue. (this was basically blurted out by my partially disconnected Google Nest Mini device, being shockingly and unexpectedly helpful). Anyway, thanks again.
