My general experience is that cloud sync just works from everywhere. What I wasn't able to get working from non-bare-metal windows in 2 configs, one close to yours, was wifi sync.
But the cloud sync is so cheap and convenient esp. if you also have a tablet and a second computer, I decided not to spend too much time on it.
