not sure what you want to achieve... so - just one thought:

are you aware that
- childs of filtered tasks can be displayed - or not
- the filters can be applied to child tasks too?

if not - the path to outcome could be:
- tag the wanted folders with a feature of MLO like (context, flag, ... 
other attributes)
- filter a "wanted" folders
- .. and have the child tasks displayed too.
