hi bharat, probably you missed installing the differnt fonts packages itself? check again.. my slackware fonts seem to be very good (both slack 9.1 and slack 10.0). also usually you would not need to run xf86config in slackware, becuause the default XF86config of slack uses the vesa driver. so unless your display card is not VESA compliant (like intel810 or something) you wouldnt need to run XF86Config, unless you particular about 3D accel to play games etc.. as far as fonts are concerned, i think you have missed the font packages. check again.
