Similar steps are described in the "Linux+WinNT Howto". 

Also, its not always required to have a boot  floppy. Once GNU/Linux
is installed,  you can use a bootable GNU/Linux cd and start the
installation as usual. Switch to some virtual console and mount the
partition on which GNU/Linux has already been installed and then
chroot in to that. Then you have booted in to the newly installed
GNU/Linux system. There you can issue whatever command you like.
