hi bhargav try this.
make menuconfig for getting an kernel configuration screen where you can select ur modules and drivers which are need to be inside ur kernel.

then go to Processor Types and Features.
there you have a tab called HighMemory Support by default is off.
enable it, Read help if for the above to be sure of what you are doing.
README file inside the untarred kernel directory is very handy in all cases.

Since the OP is on debian, I would suggest installing kernel-package
which makes it very simple to create a deb package of the kernel. But,
he has to know what and how to compile the kernel for which docs are his
best resource.

Alternately, get the source of the installed debian kernel, copy the
config and recompile with high memory support.
