use SLAMD64 for the correct drivers. actually these problems has been reported in many forms.
the complaint of the Driver used inside the alsaconf for the 64bit is not correct..and it usually stucks.
during the Operation.

try new alsa drivers too in a mean file for any bugfree updates for your drivers.
compile it from the source if you have any more problems please message back..

By default alsa mutes all the channels. Use alsamixer to unmute them and
check.
