Read the AUR page when there is trouble ;) From me (currently second
comment):
"New version out. Note that currently the protobuf in repos are version 2.3
and protobuf-python in AUR is 2.2
This will lead to a version mismatch and will crash MyPaint. Until the
maintainer updates the package to 2.3 you're gonna have to do it yourself.

Closing as invalid for this reason. I see that the pkgbuild has not been
updated yet, and will take the appropriate measures.
