Details:
There is currently no .deb package for protobuf. This is techniqually not a
bug but still very annoying. You can easily install protobuf from
http://code.google.com/p/protobuf/downloads/list
One other thing to note is that this installs the make tools for protobuf and
you have to install the python module seperatly.(the module is included with
the download) This isn't a major deal but is a bit confussing even to some
one who is familiar with working on things like this.
intill a package exsists for debian-64 bit lenny
a side not would not hurt.....
------------------------------------------------------------
Note for Debian users: At this time there is no package for
python-protobuf and protobuf-compiler. To install Mypaint you must first go
to
http://code.google.com/p/protobuf/downloads/list
and compile the protobuf-complier from source.(see README.txt included with
protobuf download) After this is complete you must then install
python-protobuf included in the download.(Again see README.txt inside
protobuf-*/python)
-------------------------------------------------------------
at the very least when some one else looks for this they will find it :)
