Details:
On my tablet PC, extended input features such as pressure sensitivity and
eraser tip work just fine. However, MyPaint (unlike GIMP and Xournal, which
both take extended input) does not recognize the middle mouse button, and I
cannot use it to pan the image.
There’s a side switch on my stylus, and I have my computer set to recognize
it as the middle mouse button (or rather, if I hold the switch down and tap
the screen, it will register a middle-click). In GIMP, this means that if I
hold the switch down and drag the stylus along the screen, the image will pan
as expected. In MyPaint, however, I will just get an ordinary stroke.
Now, if I go to “Edit > Settings” and set “Mode for input devices” to
“disabled,” I will now be able to use the middle mouse button (that is to
say, my stylus’s side switch) to pan around the image just fine. Of course,
now I won’t be able to use extended input features, such as sensitivity and
the eraser tip.
I’m using MyPaint 0.8.2 on Ubuntu 9.10 “Karmic Koala.” My computer is a
ThinkPad X61 Tablet, which uses a Wacom stylus and digitizer. (Xinput
recognizes it as “Wacom Serial Tablet PC Pen Tablet/Digitizer.”)
