Follow-up Comment #8, bug #17991 (project mypaint):
It's happening because the layers have no name before you assign one using
the dialog - the name is null, void, so the apps you're using can label them
how they wish. Hopefully MyPaint showing null-named layers in italics and
using small text makes the distinction clearer... :/
With that in mind, does what's happening seem to make sense?
