Follow-up Comment #1, bug #18759 (project mypaint): Sorry to butt in, I was just logging out when I saw this, and wanted to comment. I realize it's not really my place, given my lack of UI, coding, and painting experience. But, hear me out.
If someone is using a pre-made palette, they won't be using the scratchpad for anything, will they? I mean, the scratchpad was introduces as a kind of paint palette, wasn't it? With two things that serve the same basic function, why would you use them both at the same time? How about combining the two? Make the scratchpad into a grid of connected "tiles" that you can browse (up, down, left, right) with either a flick of the pan button or the arrow keys. Scratchpads already have the "Render a Palette" function, so they're halfway there already. I made a mock-up of this idea a few months ago that you can find here: http://fav.me/d46go0f You could even be able to "lock" the scratchpad tiles from being changed accidentally. That way, they can either be quickly customizable palettes or full-fledged scratchpads, depending on your preference. Maybe a button to toggle between "palette mode" and "scratchpad mode" (also locks/unlocks). Or, maybe have the top row of scratchpad tiles be traditional palette squares and the other tiles normal scratchpads. Of course the "Render a palette" function would need to be worked on and fine tuned, but you're going to need to do that anyway... Anyway, sorry if I'm intruding. Just wanted to give my thoughts. I'll bow out now _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://gna.org/bugs/?18759> _______________________________________________ Message sent via/by Gna! http://gna.org/ _______________________________________________ Mypaint-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/mypaint-bugs
