I can't reproduce this bug here, but FYI the history squares thing is the
button 3 binding for most users of that version (possibly button2 for
Windows...). Don't suppose you've tried in the GIMP at all? Do you get any
strange events there too?
Does it do this immediately, or only when you try to draw?
Did it work in Linux in the same way? It'd be nice if you could confirm or
disconfirm: if it does happen, then since the OS and drivers are all
different, and we know MyPaint doesn't do this elsewhere, that would confirm a
hardware issue at your end.
Be certain (obviously!) that you're not pressing a second or third button when
drawing ☺ I know, lame. But people sometimes do.
For a workaround, you may be able to change the button bindings within MyPaint
to "None" and see if that permits drawing as well.
