Follow-up Comment #6, bug #20834 (project mypaint):
If it was really the AMD driver, and you want to continue using it, it might
be worth to try disabling "high quality zoom" in the view preferences. That's
about the only thing related to graphic acceleration where we do something
special.
Personally I would just stick with the open source driver, because those tend
to be tested better, unless you absolutely need the extra 3D features.
