Follow-up Comment #1, bug #21183 (project mypaint):
Sorry about the confusion, the real problem seems to be that ColorManager's
__init__

is called without _datapath_ somewhere.
It defaults to ".", so it looks for _palettes/MyPaint_Default.gpl_ in the
current working directory –– so obviously it works if I _cd_ into
_/usr/share/mypaint_ before running program for the first time. But I don't
know how (where) to fix it "properly".
