I also fixed the bug you saw, nice catch! Hope you don't mind. The problem was the order of string substitution. The string was being changed before the gettext substitution (which handles the internationalization), so gettext was looking for a string in the translations like 'There are no scrap files named "/path/to/your/scrap/prefix" yet.' instead of 'There are no scrap files named "%s" yet.'
As for development tools, personally I mainly use an editor and a shell. In addition git, the python interpreter and a web browser for documentation is useful. Sometimes I use pdb. You really don't need much more/anything else. -- Regards Jon Nordby - www.jonnor.com
