Hi Folks, excuse me --
I just noted that myPaint is under GPL v 2 -- I had not perceived this earlier. Has that being discussed here? Is that a deliberate choice? (like for the majority of the Kernel developers)? I find GPLv2 a dangerous license - as I strictly do feel very bad with the uses that are being made for programs under this license - in which gadget producers are able to modify the software, but in which the final users may have ending norights whatsoever - as is the case with TIVO boxes and android phones. GPLv3 is better worded to reflect changes in the Intelectual Property landscape over the last 15 or 20 years, like the enforcement of software patents in some countries. I apologize if the subject has already being discussed, otherwise, I think it would be a nice thing to talk about. At GIMP, we've moved the project to GPLv3 a couple of years ago already. regards, js -><- On Mon, Mar 7, 2011 at 8:23 AM, Ramón Miranda <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi all, > Since we have been talking for the licenses theme i think the best thing in > this particular case is to choose the GPLv2 license.
