Much of the work required to make MyPaint more native to Mac involves the
GTK+ library, which is used by GIMP and MyPaint and other applications. 
Last thing I heard was that mitch (of the GIMP project) was making good
progress on the MacOS native (Quartz) port of gtk+.  The main thing missing
was tablet support, but I don't know what the status is now.  If you are
interesting in helping there, he usually hangs around in #gtk+ and #gimp on
the Gnome IRC network.

There have been a couple of people working on porting MyPaint itself to OSX.

The priority is what you make it. Most developers are on Linux, but we
certainly welcome contributions and offer assistance to anyone who is
working on porting MyPaint to a different platform.
