I tested it and the one you propose is still a bit too obstrusive for
finding a perfect origin of a thin line.
But you were right about the variant with center voided : it's working. And
also I agree to be consistent with a set of cursor.

I remixed it to be voided and also rounded with alpha grey pixels for a
nice anti-aliasing :
