Job Title: SQL Server Report Writer Location: Madison, WI Duration: 6 month. Rate: Open Job Summary: The Report Writer is responsible to design reports in SQL Reporting Services Report Designer for internal database applications. The Report Writer participates, as needed, in designing and deploying data warehouse / analysis cube solutions to support report requests. The position will work with internal business units to define new customer reports, maintain the current report portfolio and produce ad hoc reports to support the management, sales and customer support teams. The position will work directly with the software engineering staff to implement the reporting requirements when necessary. Job Duties & Responsibilities: -Learn the design and operations of client's internal database applications. -Participate in cross-departmental report requirement and definition process. -Create and deploy reports to internal applications and to the public Web portal. -Participate in the design and implementation of SQL Analysis Services databases. -Work with Quality Control department to identify data inconsistencies and work with engineering to resolve. -Troubleshoot reporting issues published to the Web and internal applications. Worker Competencies -Enthusiastic attitude to take on new projects and find creative solutions to issues affecting the future of client. -Ability to perform assigned job duties under constant time pressures and changing priorities and deadlines. -Ability to work in a team environment with limited supervision. -Experience in the employee benefits or insurance industry is a plus. -Knowledge of data warehousing techniques a plus. -Demonstrable experience gathering and communicating business as well as technical requirements. Minimum Qualifications: -A four-year degree in Computer Science, MIS, or strong professional background in database design or report creation -2-5 years of experience in Crystal Reports AND SQL Reporting Services (*Must have at least one project of 6+ months with SQL Reports Services using Visual Studio*) -Strong knowledge of VBScript or other scripting languages -High level of attention to detail -Ability to work in a team environment to asses the requirements of various development projects Essential Physical/Mental Requirements: 1. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods, up to six hours in an eight-hour day, with or without back support. 2. Must be able to communicate effectively with members on the telephone and employees over the telephone and in person to provide information and assistance. 3. Hearing activity requires the ability to participate in numerous conversations throughout the workday both in person and over the telephone. 4. Must be able to complete job duties in an environment where background noise and frequent interruptions are the norms and there may be eyestrain due to constant viewing of computer screens. 5. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, follow instructions and be able to comprehend written material or requests. 6.
