MQ System Administration
Role Description
oSupport the midrange and mainframe environments with emphasis on MQ and
Message Broker (MB)
oMQ and MB performance analysis, application planning, product maintenance
oAssist application teams in troubleshooting MQ and MB related issues
oAssess the future application needs for new MQ and MB functionality
oInstallation, configuration, tuning, and security analysis of the MQ and MB
environments
oCreate and maintain MQ and MB documentation as it pertains to Railinc's
applications and message flow, and provide continued process improvement in
area of responsibility
oDesign and architect the MQ and MB environments with a focus on high
availability including creation of detailed technical documents
oAssure all production queues have appropriate monitoring in place
oInterface with outside vendors for the support and maintenance of standards,
resolution of problems and other operational issues
oProvide technical leadership and mentoring
oAdminister mainframe access and security using RACF
oTake on-call support 24x7 on a rotating schedule
Requirements:
oBachelors degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent
experience Minimum of 3 years experience in MQ system administration involving
implementation, support and planning
oMinimum of 3 years experience in MB system administration involving
implementation, support and planning.
oMQ experience must include configuring the product for performance,
monitoring, and high availability
oMust possess an understanding of Unix operating systems, with emphasis on
Solaris and/or RHEL
oAbility to present complex technical topics to management and to external
customers in a way that non-technical people can understand
oAbility to handle multiple projects simultaneously, while providing day-to-day
support
oExcellent oral, written and overall communication skills
